This fourteen-mile outer bank off Long Island’s south shore comes back alive for seasonal residents and summer rentals.

The island communities that line the beach have a character all to themselves and where many city dwellers escape for some beach fun in the sun.  My time on this vehicle free island with only foot traffic to yield to helps me disconnect from daily routines.

Sharing a house for the season with friends is a great bonding experience that can last a life time, and also lead to meeting new ones.  Days are filled with sand, surf and poolside shenanigans.  Growing up in Queens, my childhood memories on Jones Beach flood my mind and a carefree vibe takes over me. It feels like home.
